You are Special

Yeah, so I never got back to playing the cello. I ignored it as it sat next to my book shelf, and when I moved into a smaller room in my house, I put it back in the case and in the laundry room. It was a good effort while it lasted.

For some reason, I was reminded of this book tonight and was sure I could find it online as I don't own it. You are Special by Max Lucado. I heard it in 4th grade as a camper at Sky Ranch and loved it, but I never knew what it was or where to find it until a few years ago. I was in awe--THAT WAS THE BOOK I HAD LISTENED TO AND HELD SO DEAR TO MY HEART FOR ALMOST 11 YEARS! I don't know if I read it at Mercy or what, but it is
so simple and childlike.

It reminds me of how I can become so caught up in what others think of me, how tender and eager to meet with me my Creator is, and that He doesn't care what others think of His sons and daugters.

One of my favorite parts:
One of the characters doesn't have any stickers or dots, and she goes to spend time with Eli, her woodcarver, every day :) Since I so love the concept of choice (Deut. 30:19), I can't not mention this one...Why doesn't she have any stickers or dots? Well, they don't stick on her because she has decided that what Eli thinks is more important than what the other wimmicks think. The stickers only stick if she lets them. BOOM. May seem petty, but it's not-- that's fear of man dead and gone.

You should really go read it here (click 'find our story out'), with pictures included, or listen to it here.
Ask the Lord to speak to you through this awesome children's book :)

"you are special because I made you. And I don't make mistakes."

  1. Love that book and LOVE you! :) For a person that has struggled with the fear of man, I get it. It is a powerful thing to be set free to care about what God alone cares about and seeking his approval (which we already have) rather than mans.

Keep being you Jac--the light of Christ shines most brightly through you when you are content in who HE created you to be. You don't need any dots or stars. :) Love you!
